Our History
Built on Family, Faith, and Hard Work
The story of Davis Kill-A-Bug begins in Beaumont, Texas in 1958, where a young father was simply working to provide for his family.
Harry C. Davis, Jr., his wife Lottie, and their daughter Susan were building their life while Harry worked an insulation job at a local plant. On his days off, he began helping his landlord, Mr. Smith, mix and bottle a small pest control product called Spray Chem. Mr. Smith sold the product on consignment to local grocery and hardware stores, leaving bottles and returning later to restock.
Harry wasn't just helping, he was learning.
He learned how to source chemicals, where to purchase bottles, how to manage inventory, and most importantly, how to build trust with store owners. He was learning that relationships matter as much as product.

When the Texas job ended in December 1959, the family returned home to Baton Rouge. Harry shared his vision with his father, Harry Davis, Sr. They were working together around the country doing insulation jobs.
With his father's encouragement and support, he stepped forward in faith, believing that hard work and integrity would open doors.
Harry Jr. developed his own formula. He chose a name, Kill-A-Bug. Harry Jr's brother-in-law, David, a commercial artist, helped to design the original logo, giving the company its first identity.
In January 1960, Harry Jr. went to the Louisiana State Capitol to apply for a license. He was told no such license had ever been applied for in Louisiana. What he was attempting to do had never been done. He was given a 6-month probationary period to operate his business and told to return if he still wanted to pursue the license.
In June of 1960, the Louisiana Legislature passed a bill authorizing the license, making Davis-Kill-A-Bug the FIRST EVER licensed do-it-yourself pest control product business of its kind in the state. From that moment forward, Davis Kill-A-Bug was no longer just an idea. It was a family business. From those humble beginnings, the company grew one store at a time - built on relationships, honesty, and personal service. Hardware stores, feed stores, lumber yards, and grocers trusted the product because they trusted the people behind it.
More than six decades later, the values remain unchanged. What began as a young father's idea has become a multi-generational commitment to the families we serve.

Continuing the Legacy...
Today, the legacy continues under the leadership of Harry's youngest son, Jack Jason Davis.
Jason's story with the company began long before he ever carried the title of owner. At just eleven years old, he told his father he wanted a bicycle. Rather than simply handing him the money, his father handed him an opportunity, the chance to earn it
That lesson never left him.
From working in the warehouse to making deliveries alongside his father, Jason grew up inside the business. He didn't just observe it - he experienced it. He learned how products were mixed and bottled, how orders were filled, and how relationships with customers were built one conversation at a time.
In 2006, Jason stepped into leadership and continued to operate the company with the same integrity, faith, and relationship-driven philosophy established by his father and grandfather.
Under his leadership, Davis Kill-A-Bug remains rooted in the principles it was founded on:
Hard work
Honest service
Strong relationships
Faith in doing business the right way
The methods may evolve, but the values remain the same.
